Refund Policy

Last updated 2 November 2026

Payments taken through VinGate sit in your own processor account, so you issue the refunds. This page covers how to do that, how long it takes, and what happens to fees.

Refunding a payment

Refund from the dashboard or with POST /api/v1/refunds and the payment id. Refunds are full or partial, and partial refunds work until the remaining balance is used up.

The money leaves the same processor account the payment landed in, which is why only you can trigger it.

Timing

The processor confirms the refund in seconds and the buyer usually sees it in 5 to 10 business days, depending on their bank. Neither we nor the processor can speed that up.

If the refund fails, for example because the balance was already paid out, the payment is marked with the failure and you can retry.

Fees

Chargebacks

A chargeback is the buyer's bank taking the money back, not a refund, and it has its own deadline and evidence flow. Respond from your processor dashboard and route the evidence through the processor; VinGate records the dispute and keeps the payment marked so you can find it.

If a dispute is won the money returns to your account and the payment is reinstated. If it is lost, treat it like a refund with no fee returned.

Buyers

A buyer who wants a refund should ask the business they paid. If they cannot reach it, we will pass the request on, but the decision and the money remain with that business.
